  • Join a series of Social Talks to learn more about various social challenges, social strategies and explore new ideas for social innovation;
  • Form a team and develop an innovative solution for an identified social problem;
  • Draft a proposal and make a 3-minute pitching video. Download proposal template

2. PITCHATHON
Pitch your idea 27 April, 2016

    An idea pitching event that connects and engages innovators across sectors, enabling participants to explore and develop feasible and sustainable solutions for the society through the application of technology and design elements.
    • 20 shortlisted teams will be invited to participate in an idea pitching event “Pitchathon”;
    • Each of the 20 shortlisted teams has to make a 5-minute pitch to introduce their respective idea or solution;
    • Proposed ideas or solutions will be assessed by the Judging Committee and the audience of Pitchathon at a Live Poll; 10 finalists will be selected;
    • Each of the 10 finalists will receive an Idea Acceleration Fund at HKD20,000 to test and validate the idea, and develop the prototype for Final Pitching;
    •  3-month complimentary incubation support will be provided to each finalist.
3. IDEA ACCELERATION
Think Creatively, Execute Efficiently May – July, 2016

    To maximise your chances of success, Idea Acceleration is an interactive process that enables the shortlisted teams to refine, validate and substantiate the idea, and further develop into a feasible and sustainable solution. An acceleration fund* at HKD20, 000 will be awarded to shortlisted teams for initial stage of development e.g. prototyping, market research and product test etc.
    *Shortlisted teams will be required to sign on an agreement and commit to use the Acceleration Fund exclusively for the purpose of carrying out the project, prepare and participate in the Final Pitching.
4. FINAL PITCH

Pitch and Lead Changes 28 July, 2016

TEN finalist teams undergone a three-month “Idea Acceleration” programme are ready to pitch their project ideas to compete for 4 Champions Prizes with HK$450,000 start-up fund each to kick-start their social innovation projects.

Eligibility

Pitchathon

  • On individual or team basis, with team size of 2-5;
  • Individual applicant or team leader must be a Hong Kong permanent citizen aged 18 or above;
  • For organisation applicant, the entity shall either be one of the following modes of organisation registered under the laws of the HKSAR:
    • Charitable institutions and trust of a public character, which are exempt from tax under section 88 of the Inland Revenue
    • Society
    • Co-operative Society
    • Company limited by guarantee
    • Company limited by shares
Final Pitch

  • 4 Champion teams shall either be one of the following modes of organisation registered under the laws of the HKSAR within 3 months upon the Final Pitch day, to be eligible to receive the grant and prizes. Not applicable to organisational applicant.
    • Charitable institutions and trust of a public character, which are exempt from tax under section 88 of the Inland Revenue
    • Society
    • Co-operative Society
    • Company limited by guarantee
    • Company limited by shares*

* Grantee(s) of Company limited by shares will be limited with profit distribution and asset-lock. A ceiling amount of profit (currently 35%) can be distributed by way of dividends and all project assets or its sold value must be used for the community purpose.

Important Notes, Terms and Conditions

  1. All materials submitted must be original work, and must not contain any unauthorized use of copyrighted or proprietary materials of any person or entity. Profane or obscene materials are also prohibited;
  2. Shortlisted teams of Pitchathon will be required to sign on an agreement and commit to use the Acceleration Fund exclusively for the purpose of carrying out the project, prepare and participate in the Final Pitching;
  3. Grantee(s) of Company limited by shares will be limited in profit distribution and asset-lock; with a ceiling amount of profit (currently 35%) can be distributed by way of dividends and all project assets or its sold value must be used for the community purpose;
  4. Granted projects must be fulfilling selection criteria of Social Enterprise Directory;
  5. Staff of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service is not allowed to apply;
  6. The Hong Kong Council of Social Services reserves the right to terminate or pause the application;
  7. The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) will not have or accept any liability, obligation or responsibility whatsoever for any loss, destruction or damage (including without limitation consequential loss, destruction or damage) however arising from applying the Fund and participating in any events of this Programme.

The Hong Kong Council of Social Service reserves the rights on final decision on interpreting of above terms and conditions.
